How invoices get generated

Most billing systems will produce an invoice PDF, and most of them look like a billing system produced it. Rendering the invoice from your own template is how the document ends up matching the rest of the brand while still being generated automatically. The values all come from data you already have — customer, number, dates, totals — so the design is the only thing you are adding. This is the smallest category here, and deliberately so: an invoice with a variable line-item table is a different shape of problem from one with fixed fields, and these templates cover the fixed-field case. Output is PDF essentially always, since invoices get archived and attached rather than viewed inline.

In practice: API call at invoice creation, PDF attached to the billing email and stored against the record.

Fields you'd usually bind

{{customer_name}}
Billed party, usually with an address block.
{{invoice_number}}
Your billing system's reference.
{{amount_due}}
Total, formatted in your data with the right currency.
{{due_date}}
Payment terms rendered as a date rather than a phrase.

Any text, image, QR code or barcode on the canvas can become a variable — these are just the ones this category tends to use.
