Zandovi vs Bannerbear: pricing and features (2026)

Bannerbear is one of the most established products in this category, and for some workloads — video above all — it is the better tool. Zandovi is the image generation API with a real design editor: design a template once on a full canvas, then POST JSON and get an image back, or submit a batch job — rows from your backend or a CSV from the app — and download a ZIP. Every competitor number below is dated and linked to the source so you can check it yourself.

When Bannerbear is the better choice

An honest comparison has this section. These are real reasons to pick Bannerbear over Zandovi.

  • You need video

Bannerbear ships a Video Generation API alongside images (verified on bannerbear.com, 2026-08-10). Zandovi generates images and print-ready PDFs — it does not do video, and video is not on the near-term roadmap.

  • You live in no-code automation today

Bannerbear is an official Zapier partner and advertises integrations with Airtable, forms and WordPress (bannerbear.com, 2026-08-10). Zandovi is API-first today: native Zapier/Make integrations are on the roadmap, and until then a webhook or HTTP step is the way in.

  • You need signed URLs or your own storage bucket

Bannerbear offers signed URLs on Scale ($149/mo) and bring-your-own S3 storage at Enterprise (June 2026). Zandovi does not offer bring-your-own storage on any plan (2026-08-06).

  • You want years of track record

Bannerbear has served this market for years and has a deep back-catalog of tutorials, SDKs and integration guides. Zandovi is the newer product — our answer is a generous free tier and fast support, but the difference in tenure is real.

When Zandovi wins

  • Renders per dollar, at every published price point

$29 at Zandovi buys 5,000 renders; $49 at Bannerbear buys 1,000 credits (their pricing page, verified 2026-08-21). At the entry tier that is $5.80 versus $49.00 per 1,000 renders — and the gap holds up the ladder: Zandovi Business delivers 100,000 renders for $199 where Bannerbear Scale lists 10,000 credits for $149, and Bannerbear Enterprise lists 50,000 credits for $299 ($5.98 per 1,000, against $1.99 at Zandovi Business) — all verified 2026-08-21.

  • A permanent free tier with the full API

Zandovi Free is 100 renders/month, forever — one pool covering manual exports, API and batch alike, with every output format available including print-ready PDF. No card required.

  • Print-ready PDF at 1 render, on every plan

Every output format — PNG, JPEG, WebP, and print-ready PDF at 300+ DPI — costs exactly one render on every Zandovi plan, Free included. Bannerbear charges multiple credits for PDFs (June 2026).

  • Unlimited manual editor exports on every paid plan

We meter automation, not creativity. Exports you make by hand in the editor never touch your render quota on any paid plan — the quota is for API calls and batch rows.

  • A real design editor, not just an API

A full drag-and-drop canvas with 200+ templates, 47 embedded fonts, shapes, images and layers. Your marketing or ops team designs and maintains the templates; engineers only ever touch the JSON they POST.

  • QR codes and barcodes as first-class variables

QR codes and barcodes (CODE128, EAN-13, UPC, CODE39, ITF-14) bind to {{variables}} exactly like text fields — one template renders a thousand unique, scannable vouchers or tickets.

  • Built for the failure cases too

Failed renders refund your quota automatically. Responses default to raw image bytes; ask for delivery: "link" and you get a hosted URL with an explicit expiresAt and a documented DELETE endpoint on every plan, Free included.
